We are a leader in online education

Why we do it

Skillmea was originally created as a Learn2code project in late 2012 with the aim of educating people in digital skills. At the time, the market was in crisis and more than a quarter of young people under 29 were unemployed.

From bootcamps to help young hopeful startups program their own app prototype, our education has expanded into other areas such as Design, Online Marketing, Photo, Video, Office and more.

After the experience from the face-to-face courses that we developed in different cities in Slovakia, we started to create online courses to make education accessible to everyone. Today, Skillmea is the largest learning platform on the topic of digital skills, offering in more than 500 online courses know-how directly from practitioners, mainly from a number of companies and agencies.

What we do

Adult employees of a company

For this target group, we run face-to-face courses on various topics in 5 cities in Slovakia and have hundreds of successful graduates to date. Statistically, after completing these courses, approximately 40% of the participants get a job in the IT field.

Another important category are online courses, thanks to which participants can prepare for positions such as Programmer (Front-end/Back-end), Graphic Designer, UI/UX Designer, Social Media Manager, PPC Specialist and many others, which are currently in high demand on the job market.

As a member of the Digital Coalition in Slovakia, we have made a commitment to make our online courses available to 1,000 high school students for a year, for only €5/month, based on a valid ISIC card. We successfully met our goal within 3 months

Pupils, Teachers, Schools

We've been educating kids since 2013, where we started with our first Code Camp for kids. Based on the positive feedback, we've implemented dozens of coding camps and coding circles since then.

Since we started, we have trained more than 800 kids in our circles and camps, and hundreds more during workshops at various schools across the country.

In 2016 and 2017, we conducted workshops in 4 regional cities, focused on training in modern practices of teaching computer science for elementary schools, which were attended by more than 100 teachers and teaching staff. The main topic was the modernization of computer science teaching and the use of the Scratch programming environment.

In cooperation with foreign partners IFIT Austria (the largest organization focused on teaching robotics to children) and JSI Czech Republic (the Union of School Informatics), we have created educational materials and curricula on topics such as creating games in Scratch, MIT App Inventor, Ozobot, Lego Mindstorms, Arduino, Minecraft, and more. (KidsCodr.eu project)

In 2017, we published our first book focused on teaching kids programming in Scratch. Thanks to the cooperation with our partners, we distributed the book to every primary school in Slovakia (about 2,500 schools) in order to promote all other freely available educational materials that teachers can use in computer science classes.

Popularizing tech education

In order to support and popularize technology education, we have implemented several events in the last 7 years, such as Rails Girls, Hour of Code, Scratch Day, Code in the Dark, KidsCodr Conf and others.

We are ambassadors of EU Code Week in Slovakia

where every year we carry out educational activities in several cities directly at schools or educational centres.
